Experience
The Honourable David Peterson became the Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party in 1982 and served as Premier of Ontario from 1985 to 1990. He is Chairman Emeritus of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP and Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Toronto. David served as Chair of the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games Organizing Committee. He was the Founding Chairman of the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club and was asked to serve as the Founding Chairman of the Board for Chapters Inc.
David has served on the boards of numerous leading public and private organizations, including Rogers Communications, and has played prominent roles in Canadian public policy, constitutional negotiations, and Indigenous and northern affairs, including serving as the federal government’s chief negotiator for the devolution of the Northwest Territories. He was appointed to the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada in 1992, received the Order of Ontario in 2009, and was named a Knight of France’s Legion of Honour. David holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Toronto and studied at the University of Caen, France.
